Bellywashers Bottle
Description
Up for sale/best
offer is a lot of
two vintage
Bellywashers
bottles; each of
which still have
the bottom half
of the bottle itself
along with the usual
collectible top.
Included in this lot
is a Marvel Spider-Man
12 oz. Bellywashers
bottle from 2001 and
a Cartoon Network
Scooby-Doo; which
seems to date back
to 2001; although both
the Cartoon Network
and Hanna-Barbera
entities each bear a
copyright date of 2000
on the rear side of this
12 oz. bottle's label.
Both of these bottles
sat on a  refrigerator,
collecting
quite a fair
amount of
dust over the
course
of a decade, and
one
day whilst I was in
the middle of cleaning
it, giving it a proper
wipe down and all...
the Spider-Man
bottle accidentally
fell on the floor,
causing a very small
hole to open up (which
was and still is not visible
to the naked eye) and
that was enough to
cause the contents of
the whole bottle (which
was still sealed up to
that point) to simply
drain and leak
all over the place.
Of course, this leakage
was not noticeable at
first and so quite a few
more months past before
it came time to clean it
up again and that's
when I noticed that
the bottle was a lot
lighter. By that time,
I decided it would be
wise to just drain
each bottle, which is
why the seal at the
top of each bottle
was punctured.
In order to drain
the contents out a
lot faster, I decided to
puncture the original
seal at the top of the
bottle; which is still
on there (for the most
part) but hanging by
a thread, so to speak.
Please bear in mind
that both of these
bottles had a pretty
nasty build up of
dust on them which
was wiped off with
Isopropyl alcohol
for the most part;
some areas of the
plastic may have
some discoloration
due to the dust
and/or cleaning.
The bottles themselves
also have a slight
yellow tint to them,
which I can't really
tell whether or not
came about from age
or from the drink
that was originally in
each of them, since
they just sat there
for quite a long time;
very well passed
their expiration dates.
You can even still smell
a very faint trace of
the original flavor
emanating from
inside the bottle.
The underside of
the Scooby-Doo cap
top has an excess
groove of plastic
which has come
loose from the rest
of the bottle during
cleaning. It's still
hanging on there by
a thread, but I really
don't see what the
purpose of this ring
really is, since it's
just on the roof of
the underside of
the cap, and not
on the sides of it
which is where the
actual fastening
grooves are (i.e. the
ones that actually
lock into the bottle
itself, that is).
This ring came apart
when I was cleaning
out the bottom of this
cap top with a rag.
Please refer to the last
picture. It's just a
minor blemish that
doesn't really affect
the structure of the
bottle. In fact, it may
be just excess plastic
that resulted from a
factory error or
something along
those lines.
The Spidey top
has articulating
arms, which
almost makes it
seem like a toy.
There is also a bit
of paint loss visible
on Spidey's back
which is really
minor, but still
somewhat
noticeable.
These types of
bottles are somewhat
collectible now and
not many listings
have the original
bottom half included
with them. Usually
you'll only find the
tops of these bottles
only. So here's
your chance to get
the full bottle!
