ANTIQUE GORHAM STERLING SILVER CALLING CARD/BUSINESS CARD CASE, HMK. c.1852-1865

Description

For your consideration is a Gorham sterling silver calling card or business card case.  It has an elaborate symmetrical design on the front with a blank square space where one could have their initials engraved.  The reverse has the same design but with no square space for initials.  The lid is hinged.
It measures approximately 3-1/2" tall, 2-1/2" wide and 3/16" thick.
There are three (3) hallmarks on the front lip under where the lid closes.
One is a lion, one is an anchor and the other is a large "G".
These hallmarks indicate the manufacturer is Gorham and the date of manufacture is between 1852 and 1865.
The condition is very good used.  There are no material dents or scratches.  It is smoke and dog odor free.
